Black Mold, What is It?

Black mold is the term for a specific kind of mold referred to as “stachybotrys” that is considered to be especially harmful to someone’s health.  However, the fact is that it never has been scientifically shown that it’s any more harmful than additional colors and types of mold. All kinds of mold triggers allergies in specific individuals who are sensitive.  Thereby, many within the mold sector are attempting to move away from misleading data out there regarding black mold, and going forward with a “no mold belongs inside a healthy house.”

Black Mold: Is it dangerous?

In some percentage of people, black mold triggers allergies, making their lives miserable.  In addition, it may cause some more severe illnesses like pneumonia in a small percentage of folks who have additional underlying medical problems. However, other colors and types of mold may also do this; therefore, singling out such mold over additional kinds of mold is misleading.  Following the idea that “no mold belongs inside a healthy house” is the best method of keeping yourself and other people safe from mold symptoms.

Can black mold kill you, cause cancer, or make you sick?

Black mold, in conjunction with several other colors and types of mold, may cause serious allergies in some sensitive people.  Living with allergic reactions like that is miserable and awful. Therefore, as far as that goes, black mold may make you sick. However, black mold never has been scientifically shown to trigger cancer. That’s misleading data that is available online that’s a lot of hype and just serves to scare folks.  Can it kill you? Well, it cannot actually kill someone by itself; however, a strong allergic reaction to the exposure of black mold might trigger something such as pneumonia, which might lead to death if you cannot recover from it.
